Best & Worst - Wearside League

REFRESHMENTS

AVAILABILITY:
McGrath Park, Harton & Westoe, Falcon Club, Kimberley Park - all with fully-licensed clubhouses
Ford Quarry, Stokesley, Boldon Welfare Ground  - warm drinks and homely snacks from the pitchside huts/kiosks 

QUALITY:

FOR TRAVELLERS

EASIEST TO FIND:
Stokesley - large multisport site on main junction out of town
Green Lane - clearly visible from the main coast road to the south 

EASIEST TO PARK:
Green Lane - massive carpark

HARDEST or MOST-CONFUSING TO FIND:
Derwent Park - the postcode on their website goes elsewhere on Google Maps!
Beechfield Park - as above
Kimberley Park (retired) - hidden behind the local household waste centre! 

ACCESS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
Hilltop - nearby bus stops have excellent network links
Everywhere has nearest bus stops or train links within walking distance  


PANORAMA

BEST RURAL LANDSCAPE:
Green Lane - seaviews and salty air
McGrath Park - set in a rolling Cumbrian valley

BEST SEMI-URBAN LANDSCAPE:
Hilltop - southerly, across the fields towards the Wear gorge and beyond 


WEATHER PROTECTION

BEST ALL-ROUND:
McGrath Park - sitting inside the upstairs lounge bar behind huge windows
Beechfield Park - the Jon Purves Stand (ie a proper stand) plus several covered areas
Metcalfe Park - main stand (the crumbling relic of a proper stand) with hundreds of proper seats 

WORST:
Hilltop, Falcon Club - zero weather protection 


SPECTATOR FACILITIES

TOILETS:
Everywhere 

MOST-ATTENTIVE STAFF ON HAND:
Boldon Welfare Ground, Stokesley, Derwent Park 


CAMARADERIE AT PITCHSIDE

Earls Orchard - very friendly, best mix of age-groups
McGrath Park, Green Lane - genuine match interest and authentic rowdy atmosphere
Stokesley, Eastbourne Complex, Ford Quarry - friendly and inclusive to visitors
