NORVENMUNKI's COMMENTS

Today's weather: dry, cloudy, mild.

NorvenMunki's Diary...
Today is a break from the League fixtures, with the glory of progress in the FA Trophy at stake. Also, today is official Non-League Day (and the professional clubs are resting due to international fixtures) so the hope is for some new faces to pop down and cheer on their local side.

The entrance to Shawe View is tucked behind a housing estate, alongside the Oxford Road-Warrington railway branch line.
There are at least three new faces here, as my daughter and father accompany me today: three generations of Questors. Or is it Questers? My daughter is marginally impressed by the music playlist, some oldies and some newies, rates 6/10.

The gate staff are friendly, and inside clusters of eager spectators are queuing at the burger bar or quaffing pitchside pints in plastic glasses.
The pre-match announcements from the 'Press Box' tell everyone about the upcoming matches, hoping to entice a few casual visitors back again.

In the outfield, there are trees and grass areas, with kids having kickabouts whilst the match goes on beside them. At one point, their ball bounces onto the pitch and the visitors' captain hoofs it back off (whilst a few old fogies have a chunner).

At half-time, we grab a hot brew from the chirpy cafe lady. My regular fellow hot chocolate taster declares it's good quality!
