NORVENMUNKI's COMMENTS

Today's weather:
occasional light rain sprinkles, cloudy, mild, still

NorvenMunki's Diary...

Kendal is a very pretty market town, and today it's decked in decorations as everyone is getting ready for Christmas.

From the town centre, I take a walk over the hill and through Fletcher Park.

On arrival, you come through the turnstile and are met with a very large venue. There's loads of capacity here (despite what the NPL website implies), with hundreds of seats in various parts of the ground and room for thousands of standing spectators. You can pretty-much pick your favourite spec whatever your preference.

It's all hillside around here. The pitch is undulating in places, but is nevertheless the flattest bit of ground hereabouts!

The clubhouse is excellent. Named in honour of the club's late President, Sir Tom Finney, it boasts all the hallmarks of a great social venue... including large windows onto the pitch through which to enjoy your pint in warm comfort.

Opening scoreboard...

The local kids in the old wooden stands are excited and their chants and banter creates a nice atmosphere throughout the match. They are subdued temporarily within four minutes by the visitors' early goal, but they erupt in delight with a 15-minute equaliser. There is plenty more to enjoy and endure in a passionate encounter.

Final scoreboard...
